The Magnet Shop

The Magnet Shop is a very special company that is owned and operated by Ziah J. Baldis. Ziah is six years old. Ziah started The Magnet Shop in January of 2009 because “he wanted to help less fortunate kids play baseball”. Ziah’s idea is very special and very close to his heart! Ziah himself loves to play baseball and he loves The Pittsburgh Pirates!!! Ziah draws unique pictures and makes magnets from his special artwork. Ziah’s Mom (Lisa M. Baldis) volunteers her time by helping to make the magnets and handle some administrative work for The Magnet Shop. Ziah likes to tell people “My Mom works for Me” - Ziah donates a portion of all proceeds from his sales to help children with special needs. One way is making it possible for them to play baseball at The Pittsburgh Pirates Charities Miracle League Field. Each magnet will be sold for $5.00 and they are approximately 3x5 in size.

Haiti Fundraiser Magnet

Recently, after a terrible earthquake devastated Haiti, Ziah wrote a most heartfelt letter to God... This letter inspired Ziah to use his letter to create another magnet and sell this magnet. Ziah named this magnet the Haiti Love Magnet. Ziah will be donating all proceeds from the sale of this "Haiti Love Magnet" to Haiti. Ziah decided on a price of $3 per magnet. He choose $3 as he would like $1 to go towards Hospitals in Haiti; $1 to go towards Food in Haiti and the last $1 to go towards Kids that lost their parents in Haiti. Ziah would like to sell 500 Haiti Love Magnets!!! Each Haiti Love Magnet measures 2 x 3.5” in size. Please help Ziah to help the most special people in Haiti by buying a Haiti Love Magnet!

The Magnet Shop & Pirates Charities

Ziah met with Chaz Kellem (Manager, Diversity Initiatives, Pittsburgh Pirates) and Brittany Ryce (Group Sales Account Executive, Pittsburgh Pirates). Both Chaz and Brittany were very excited about Ziah and The Magnet Shop partnering up with Pirates Charities, the philanthropic arm of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates Charities Miracle League Field will be made of a synthetic surface to make it possible for children in wheelchairs and walkers to safely move about the field. It will also feature an ADA compliant concession stand, dugouts, and restrooms and include lights that will allow the children to play night games. The field is to be located in Cranberry Township's new Dick's Sporting Goods Sportsplex at Graham Park. The Pirates Charities Miracle League Field will serve the entire Southwestern Pennsylvania region. Ziah and many others are looking forward to the opening of this field.
